Cedar Bluff Play School

About Our School

Cedar Bluff Play School is a child care center that provides infant, toddler, and pre-school care. We are a pre-school learning center providing education for the children with a prepared curriculum as a basis for our instruction. It is the purpose of our center to provide education and a safe, loving environment for the children in our care. We are as flexible as possible and meet the individual needs of our families in a professional and caring manner.

Cedar Bluff Play School was founded by Jean D. Ford, and opened in October 1970 with a total enrollment of fifteen children. The center grew, enrollment multiplied, and the additions to the building were made. Many children and families have been cared for at CBPS throughout the years. We are blessed to have second and third generation children of parents who themselves attended CBPS. In 2018 the business received new owners, Tony and Nichole Ringer. They are updating the building, but will instill the same philosophy that has made the center successful. The philosophy of caring, giving, and providing individual care and respect is ongoing and has served us well. We have a unique history in that we have successfully operated our business for nearly fifty years in one location with many changes in our area and the world. We believe our longevity is directly related to the caring people who have worked for Cedar Bluff Play School over the years

Our Facilities

We Are Providing an Environment for Our Students to Grow & Excel

Cedar Bluff Play School’s six classrooms offer programs for infants, toddlers, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds and pre-k. Each of our classrooms has two teachers/educators. The State of Tennessee has requirements for staff/children ratios. We meet those requirements and often employ more staff than the State requires.

Our Vision

Program Philsophy

Our program embraces a comprehensive child care curriculum, which concentrates on developing competencies that prepare our children for their future in an ever-changing world. Each teacher is carefully guided in their adaptation of this program to a level appropriate to each child’s stage of development in areas of personal awareness, emotional well-being, socialization, communication, cognition, creativity, and perceptual motor skills. Our environment is structured to meet the individual child’s needs taking into consideration the principles related to human growth and development. Our philosophy stresses providing opportunities to direct learning through a variety of activities. Learning centers such as music, blocks, books, drama, art, discovery and imaginary play are offered for the optimum development of the whole child. Our program allows each child to choose an activity appropriate for his or her own developmental level allowing for progress at an individual rate. Each child is given the opportunity through individual success to develop self-confidence. All caregivers must be committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children. Our staff members work daily to develop personal acceptance and sensible limits, through gentle correction, genuine encouragement and concern for each child. Parent involvement is a necessary and welcome part of our child development program. We recognize that parents are the primary provider and nurturer. It is important that parents and teachers work together as partners through daily communication. We offer several opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s learning experience. Our goal is to provide quality preschool education for all children. Quality care begins with professional leadership that is dedicated to the ideals and philosophies and promotes a positive direction for the entire organization. Preparation and training help us maintain this direction. By setting goals and being committed to them we are able to accomplish our ultimate goal, providing quality care and education for each and every child in our care.

Testimonials

What Parents are Saying

"I love Cedar Bluff Play School! The teachers are the best! When we first enrolled my children were hesitant and would cry when I dropped them off. After a week or two they were so happy that they would run in to their teachers and at the end of the day they didn’t want to leave. The teachers became my children’s best friends. I could not be happier!"
-Caitlyn M.

"Cedar Bluff Play School has been absolutely wonderful for my children. Our oldest attended the child care center from 2 months until he went to kindergarten. He was always happy to go to school and it was evident he felt loved and supported there. We had zero reservations trusting them with our youngest. The staff is excellent!"
-Chris W."

"I was not at all excited to have our daughter (3 mos at the time) in any infant care program, but her mother and I both work full-time. We checked-out four different facilities and decided on Cedar Bluff Play School. We've been quite pleased since day one and don't regret our decision one bit. I would highly recommend Cedar Bluff Play School!" -Byron W.
